Supervision

Manages a portion of the production employees in respective department.

Job Summary

The role of the Production Manager is to provide planning, direction, and leadership for their employees within a participative, team-oriented and customer-focused environment.  This position may be required to assist other departments and perform additional duties as required.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Mentor, guide, and supervise employees within final assembly
  • Oversee, plan, and prioritize department activities and resources
  • Interview, hire and develop manufacturing personnel
  • Ensure tools/equipment that are needed within Final Assembly are available to the employees
  • Establish goals and improvement measures within respective area. Safety, product, process and procedural quality are departmental performance drivers
  • Directs the interpretation of specifications, work instructions, procedures, and job orders to other team members, and assigns duties as appropriate
  • Responsible for implementing LEAN initiatives within department
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of teams and of processes
  • Directs team members in determining work procedures, work schedules, and workflow

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Must have previous experience building a strong, positive team environment
  • Must have excellent skills in employee relations and leadership
  • Must have thorough knowledge of specifications, work instructions, procedures, and job orders
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • General understanding of BOM structures
  • General understanding of routings and time standards
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects
  • Knowledge of LEAN concepts and the drive for continuous improvement
  • Previous experience managing and achieving budgetary requirements within a department
  • Previous experience recommending and initiating corrective actions
  • Excellent responsiveness and customer-focus
  • Strong motivational and team development skills

Desired:

  • SL8 experience (working knowledge)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs
  • Surface Mount Technology experience desired

Demonstrated ability in the AIS competencies required for all employees: customer focus, ethics & values, problem solving, integrity & trust, functional/technical skills, listening, action-oriented, composure, and values diversity.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • BA/BS degree preferred
  • Broad general knowledge of manufacturing methods and techniques to include industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, and production processes
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred
