Supply Chain Engineering Lead

Job Summary:

The Supply Chain Engineering Lead position is responsible for representing supply chain in all aspects of the product life cycle.  They will be engaged with the product development process including leading and identifying supplier technologies, leading supplier selection and qualification.  They will work closely with the manufacturing engineering team to analyze and identify opportunities for cost reductions by outsourcing functions and creating make/buy analytics and leading outsourcing initatives. They will drive supplier improvement projects to mitigate risks in quality, availability and cost.  They will work closely with suppliers, engineering development, and quality to resolve material problems.  They will resolve supply chain related escalations by collaborating with suppliers to identify solutions.  They will support the quality manager in compliance and sustainability. This position will be a lead role in training, mentoring and developing junior supply chain engineers. The supply chain engineer will be responsible to work with purchasing and quality to provide supplier score cards and improvement plans.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement overall supply chain strategy for products
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, value stream leaders and quality to determine key supply chain KPIs
  • Develop supplier base by actively sourcing, identifying and evaluating new supplier sources and conduct negotiations to obtain the maximum benefit for the company
  • Work with existing and new suppliers to lower materials cost through value engineering, reverse engineering, new design, alternative substitution, or relaxing of tolerance or standardizing of materials.
  • Manage supplier service agreements and supplier quality management to continuously improve quality standards
  • Develop systems and procedures for:
    • Selecting and monitoring suppliers and ensuring their ability to meet engineering and quality standards
    • Verifying parts and materials received meet requirements in a cost-effective manner
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and training for junior engineers
  • Establishing and maintaining strong supplier relationships
  • Understand and live by AIS’ ethics and business conduct policies.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • BS in Engineering with business background (MBA preferred)
  • 3-5 years of production related experience in Operations, Supply Chain, or Engineering and New Product Introduction
  • Ability to source new supply chain solutions
  • Overall knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement, manufacturing support team roles and responsibilities, manufacturing processes
